It was just announced this morning that Jay-Z and Beyonce welcomed their first baby into the world. Although they’ve yet to confirm the name many reports are suggesting that they have named their child Blue Ivy. So, what’s the meaning behind the name?
The first two letters of “Ivy” are also the Roman numerals for four, Beyonce’s favorite number. She has avidly spoke about the significance of the number in her life, which she broke down in her DVD, “Beyonce Live at Roseland: Elements of 4.”
As for “Blue,” it seems that this could be a mirroring of Jay-Z’s recording career, and it has been speculated that the name was inspired by his three Blueprint albums.
